This Christian Journey:
Biography of walter d. Huyck Jr.
Ministry Philosophy
Our philosophy of
ministry is to develop people Spiritually, Physically, and completely.
personal experience:
Pastor
Walter Huyck accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord, and Savior while aboard
the U.S.S. Trenton in May of 1986. He was then in the U.S. Marine Corps
and his unit was on deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. Upon his return
to the United States he and his wife joined Blue Creek Baptist Church in
Jacksonville, North Carolina. Then in June of 1987 Pastor Walt
experienced, and answered the call to preach. He was honorably discharged
in November of 1988, moved to Georgia, and he and his family joined Trinity
Baptist Church. He was then licensed for the ministry of the gospel in
October of 1989. He served as the Associate Pastor of Trinity Baptist
Church. He and his wife conducted a youth Bible study at their
residence, actively directed a neighborhood outreach program, and worked in
prison ministry with the Repairers of the Breach Ministry.
In 1994 Pastor Walt and
his family, now consisting of Walt, Cathy, Kristen, Joseph, Leah and Nathan
answered the call to Pastor (Bi-vocationally) Immanuel Baptist Church in
Atlanta, Georgia. Immanuel was about to close its doors with about 22
regular attendees and a facility in need of major renovations. They lead
the Church to rebuild its Sanctuary, which took approximately two years, with no
debt. They then began to reach out to their community in various ways.
They started a Hispanic Ministry, which grew to over 100 in attendance in just
two years.
In 2000 they left
Immanuel Baptist Church and Pastor Walt became the Executive Director of the
Sandy Springs Mission. A faith based ministry that reached out to the
various language groups in the Sandy Spring area. This ministry was
largely supported by Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The ministry was dynamic
in its outreach and ministries. However, as an Executive Director Pastor
Walt received few opportunities to preach and that was his burden and calling.
In 2002 they answer a
call to Pastor Sugar Creek Baptist Church in West Terre Haute Indiana. After nearly three
years at Sugar Creek Baptist Church our family was led to start CrossRoads
Baptist Church in Terre Haute, Indiana. This Church started in November of
2005 and is where they currently serve as the Pastoral family.
Pastor Walt currently

of Ministry,
