Be A Good Child

Luke 11:13 ¹³ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Yesterday evening I had the incredible privilege of leading a lost soul to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  Isn’t the grace of God amazing!  As I always do, I then led this young man in some Bible verses of assurance and security.  As I showed Him John 1.12, and as he examined this verse, I led him to understand that by receiving Christ he had just become a child of God.  God is the sovereign King of all things, and he had now been adopted into God’s royal family.  I ask this young man what that made him, and he answered correctly when he said, “A prince.” 

I then said to this young man, “Your Heavenly Father wants you to always remember that you are now royalty.  Your Heavenly Father merely asks you to live like you are a child of the King.  Live your life in a way that always honors your Heavenly Father and never dishonors His name or your new royal family.”   

It is truly an amazing thing that through our New Birth almighty God has adopted us into His divine family.  If God’s people, who call themselves by His name, would always strive to live in ways that always bring honor and glory to the royal family and reputation of God, then the lost world around us would clearly be able to find God through us.  Somehow, many who call themselves Christian have lost a sense of the need to live distinctly for the family of God, and through their sinful and dishonoring lifestyles, they have brought disrepute to the household of God and confusion in our world.  Let the desire and determination of being a good child in God’s royal family rule in your life always and at all times.
