A Thought For Your Christian Journey:
What Are Your Charges?
Romans 8.31-39
Romans 8:31-39
31
What
shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how
shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall
lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is
risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession
for us. 35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or
sword? 36
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day
long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all
these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Are you condemned? Are you struggling with
guilt in your inmost man, in your heart? Are you unworthy of the
forgiveness and grace of God? Do your trails and struggles prove to you
that you are not worthy of Christ's propitiation and the goodness of God?
Perhaps you know all of the Scriptural, born-again, answers to these questions,
but what answers do you really harbor in your heart?
Do you really understand what Paul means when he
says, "if God be for us, who can be against us?"
(vs
31) There is no condemnation to you who are in Christ Jesus.
Your trials are not a manifest token of your unworthiness of God. Your
neighbors and adversaries in life cannot cast you down into the pits of hell.
That vile deceiver, Lucifer, cannot drag you down into Hades with him. You
have been liberated, set free, redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb of God.
Please be reminded of the nature of a deceiver.
A deceiver does not reveal himself as a deceiver, instead he wants you to
believe he is your friend. He wants you to believe that he has your best
in life in his intensions. He wants you to trust him. But know, oh,
child of God, that if anyone or any spirit is trying to convince you that you
are not worthy of God and His free gift of Eternal Life; that is a deceiver.
Listen to what Paul wrote, and hear the Holy
Spirits testimony within you.
Romans 8 records:
-
God has freely given you all things (vs
32)
-
No Charge can come against you (vs
34)
-
Nothing can separate
you from the love of God (vs
35-39)
Regardless of what might be taking place in your
life right now, you are free through Christ and your Heavenly Father is pouring
His manifold love out upon you. You have the Holy Spirit of God within you
confirming that you belong to Him for all eternity. You have the assurance
of God's Word that nothing can come against you to condemn you, your intercessor
is always there and always protecting you. You can never again be
condemned. Now, live in that knowledge and liberty.
The thought enters my mind that sinful people
living promiscuous and carnal lives might take this devotional thought and use
it to try and justify themselves and their life style. Always keep in mind
that the liberty spoken of by Paul in this chapter of the Bible finds it
foundation in Jesus Christ. It is what Jesus did for us on Calvary's Cross
that won this liberty for us. He suffered and died for all of our sins.
This guilt free liberty is only found in a life lived out through the Holy
Spirit of God, and the Holy Spirit will never condone sin. Therefore,
Paul's word can not cause us to feel good about continuing sin our lives, but
instead challenges us live without sin in our lives. Why? Because we
have been set from the dominion of sin in our lives. Once you have lived
in this Spirit filled liberty you will not be content in any other lifestyle.
For those who do not have Jesus Christ as their
Lord and Savior, this wonderful life changing liberty can be your too.
Just call out and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. It will
change your life forever.
