A Thought For Your Christian Journey:

Socialism in America

2 Thessalonians 3:10 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

It seems that there is a great socialistic move in our government.  There appears to be a lot of people who want to be supported by our government in one way or another.  A person who receives something from our government or lives off of the government is a person who lives off of what the government gets from the rest of its citizens.  The government gets its funds and support through taxation and fees.  The government produces nothing on its own.

Ronald Regan once said,

“The government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it.  If it keeps moving, regulate it.  And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”

Dr. Adrian Rogers once stated,

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out if freedom.  What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.  The government cannot giver to anybody anything that the government does not first take form somebody else.  When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that, my dear friends, is about the end of any nation.  You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

God made us to work.  Even in a perfect Garden of Eden Adam was placed there to work.  The New Testament reminds us that if we are to provide for our selves and our homes then we must work.  Don’t buy into the idea that anyone should get something for nothing.
