The Courage to Come
It was a brisk night where the shepherds were that evening.
Their daily tasks were completed, the sun had set and they had settled in
for the night. Just as they had so
many times before.
Perhaps they had looked about and saw the dim twinkling lights of the lamps and
candles burning in
Then in the midst of it
all, they were suddenly forced to consider the brilliance of a presence not
known to them before. An Angel
proclaiming the birth of a God-given King, confirmed by the voices of the
Heavenly Host. The babe would be
found in
The shepherds then had a
decision to make. Sitting there in
the shadow of Herod’s palace would they have the courage to go and see this
newborn King. Surely, they were
aware of king Herod's reputation for the deaths of many perceived
insurrectionist; even to the point of killing members of his own family.
Yet, the voices of the angels rang clear, the long awaited Messiah had
come.
Many of us today are faced
with similar, yet not so dangerous situations.
We must decide if we will establish a relationship with the Savior, and
then determine whether we will follow Him on a daily basis.
This relationship certainly calls us to surrender our time, talents, and
treasures; just as these shepherds did.
We must decide whether or not Heavens Revelation is worth the risk and
sacrifice. Will we risk coming to
the Savior while in Herod's (the worlds) shadow?
The shepherds did and then they let the whole world know that they had
personally seen Jesus Christ!
