A Thought For Your Christian Journey:
Availing Prayer
James
5:16 . . . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much .
Availing Prayer is the heart of this short scriptural statement and our longing
desire. To have our prayers heard
when we pray and to know the joy of answered supplication is a wonder that few
have experienced in our day. Many
pray, but few avail in prayer. So
just what makes for an availing prayer?
We must first notice that righteousness is absolutely required.
A marginal lifestyle that excuses sin will always lead to hollow prayers
and prayerlessness. Let
a Christian strive to live a life that is acceptable to their Heavenly
Father and answered prayers will be the result.
The power and provision of Almighty God is poured out upon those who
desire to please Him in every way.
Next we are reminded of the sincere desire that draws the attention of our Lord.
It is the effectual fervent prayer that is heard by our Lord.
God knows your heart and knows when your requests are shallow and quaint.
If you are merely praying, just so you
can say you have prayed, then you have already accomplished what you
sought to do. However, pray for
something as though your only resource and hope for its acquisition rests upon
our Heavenly Father, and God will avail to your cause.
There are many prayers prayed across America each day.
There are many religious people who have given up on prayer.
There are many disillusioned Christians who find it futile to pray.
Why? Because of the for
righteousness and earnestness in prayer.
How about you? Do you know availing
prayer?
