A Thought For Your Christian Journey:
Hearts That Burn
Luke 24:32
32
And they said one to another,
Did not our heart burn
within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to
us the scriptures?
Nothing will set your heart on fire more than knowing that you
walk with and talk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
But what does it really mean to say that one has a heart that burns.
It means that there is something inside of them that drives them or
motivates them in an extraordinary way.
This certainly should be the case for every born again Christian.
Yet, there are many days when born again Christians struggle to feel just
ordinary. Extraordinary would be
described by many as a reach on most days, and, on some days, as simply out of
reach.
The first step in having a heart that burns is to find
yourself in the presence of the Lord.
If a born again Christian is going to get himself into the presence of
the Lord, then he or she must make a very conscious effort to walk with the
Lord. The disciples on the Road to
Emmaus found themselves in the presence of Jesus because they walked with Him on
their journey. It seems over
simplistic, but it is the reality of our daily lives.
We often find ourselves out of fellowship with our Lord because we just
don’t seek to be in His presence.
Jeremiah 29:13
13 And ye shall seek me, and find
me, when ye shall search for me
with all your heart.
Things that bring us near to God include a daily God-and-I
time, regular church attendance for Bible study and worship, and fellowship with
God’s people wherein we actually and purposefully seek God together.
These and many other things help us to seek God, who wishes to be found
by us, and desires set our hearts on fire for Him and His glorious purposes.
So, what about you?
Does your heart burn from the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ?
