Our Strong Hold
Nahum 1:7
7
The LORD is good,
a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
The fact that our God is good is absolutely certain.
Those of us who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Lord
and Savior have experienced, first hand, the unspeakable goodness of God’s grace
and forgiveness. The incredible joy
and peace that accompanied our new birth, while unknown to us at first
theologically, was confirmed within us in ways that mortal tongue has struggled
to describe.
As we have spiritually grown as Christians, through our
affiliation and fellowship with other born again believers and through personal
time spent reading, memorizing, and meditating upon God’s precious Word, we have
come to understand the many manifold blessing our Lord poured upon us at our
Salvation. We rejoice in knowing
that we are now the Children of God (John 1.12), that we are now spiritually
instructed by God (John 14.6), that we are the sent of God ( Matt 10.16;
28.18-20), and much more. Through
the many spiritually deep and divinely revealed truths discovered in the pages
of the Bible we learn just how unsearchable the goodness, faithfulness, and
deliverances of our Lord really are.
Each of the precious truths revealed in scripture concerning
our new life in Christ are substantiated through the assuring work of the Holy
Spirit with in us, giving us a supernatural witness that develops into an
absolute determination. This
assurance confounds natural (worldly) rational minds as they try to understand
how these Christians can live, and even die as though their God were actually a
real God. Yet for our redeemed,
blood bought hearts, now filled with the living and life transforming Holy
Spirit of God we earnestly proclaim with Nahum:
The LORD
is good, a strong hold in the
day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
