Redeemed Resolutions
Joshua 1:8
8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and
then thou shalt have good success.
The week between Christmas and the New Year is traditionally
viewed as a week of New Years Resolutions.
People will think about the last year and what they wish they had done
and will often make resolutions for what they would like to do better in the
incoming New Year.
All kinds of resolutions will be made.
Some will resolve to,
· Eat less or eat better.
· Loose weight.
· Exercise or work out regularly.
· Quit smoking.
· Spend more time with family and friends.
·
And the list goes on and on.
This week would be a great time for Christians to think about
their spiritual lives and to make resolutions that would help them to be more
spiritually fit or to grow in Christ.
Some great Redeemed Resolutions
might include,
·
Have a
daily God and I time. If you do
not currently know how to have daily devotional time then I suggest completing
the New Christian Study and in five weeks you will learn how to have a daily God
and I time or Daily Quiet Time. You
can find this study at:
·
Commit to
attend Church regularly.
Christians need the Church and the Church needs its members.
Perhaps you have only gone to Church occasionally this last year, commit
to go to Church every week. I even
go to Church when I am out of town.
Perhaps you haven’t attended Sunday evenings or Wednesday evenings, commit to
make these a regular part of your Church week.
Perhaps you need to make a commitment to be regular in Sunday School or
Bible Study. Without a doubt,
Christians need to be in Church.
·
Commit to
Read the Bible everyday and all the way through.
Of all the resolutions a Christian could make
This is the most
important one. I
could never express how important it is for a Christian to read their Bible
every day. It is equally important
for Christians to read their Bibles all the way through, and often.
I suggest reading through the
Bible every year. Some may take
two or even three years, but read at least some of the New Testament every day,
and read through your whole Bible on a regular basis in a plan that covers the
entire Bible. You can find two
different through the Bible plans at,

The Bible Chronologically:
·
Commit to
have regular Family Devotions.
Parents need to be involved in the spiritual growth of their children.
Fathers need to be the spiritual leaders of their homes and mothers need
to nurture the spiritual growth of their families.
This does not happen by chance.
Hence, a great family oriented resolution is to commit to have family
devotions regularly. Set a day(s)
and time and do some Bible based devotions together.
This is easily done if your family eats together at the family table,
which I believe is essential for every family.
The difference between spiritual resolutions and other resolutions is that mortal resolutions are clearly temporal in nature while spiritual resolutions will last into eternity. Hence, what resolutions will you make this coming year? Will you make some that will build you and your family for eternity to come?
