Thou
Hast Seen Me
Jeremiah
12:1-3
1 Righteous
art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy
judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they
happy that deal very treacherously?
2 Thou hast planted them, yea,
they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in
their mouth, and far from their reins.
3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me:
thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: . . .
Jeremiah was the weeping prophet. It has
been said that he preached and prophesied for 30 years and never saw any
repentance or conversion as a result of his faithfulness. It must have
been a struggle to remain faithful and persevere in such a case. Yet, Jeremiah
was certainly faithful.
In these verses Jeremiah is pleading with God and
in pleading he notes how the people in
Christianity is not so much about being educated
in the Bible, or having knowledge about the things of God. Instead it is
about having an intimate relationship with Almighty God. It is about being
touched in ones heart by God through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit
within you. This intimate relationship is born within us when we receive
the Lord Jesus Christ into our lives (John 1.12; 3.1-16; Rev 3.20). Once
it is realized within the life of a born again Christian then a supernatural
transformation (conversion) takes place, so that they will never be the same
again.
A born again Christian will love the written Word
of God because the living Word of God is in him (John 1.1-14). A born
again Christian will love prayer because to communicate with his Heavenly Father
is a real personal experience for him. A born again Christian will love
going to Church because Jesus loved and died for the Church (Eph 5.25) and they
find Christ there. A born again Christian will despise sin in his life
because sin breaks the heart of God and causes a distance between God and the
individual. These are just a few of the many intimate realities that will
eternally touch the heart of those who draw near to God with all of their heart.
Don’t be near God with your mouth, but far from
God in your reins (heart). There is nothing more satisfying in life than
to be near to the heart of God.
