Today we start a new study in the Word of God.  We will be studying in detail what the Word of God says about The End Times.  In this Study we will use The End Times Chart I developed while I was in Bible College and Seminary.  So be sure you have a copy of this End Times Chart.

We will take our time in this study to carefully examine what God has revealed in prophecy about The End Times.  Now when I say The End Times let me explain what I mean by The End Times.  In this study we will study what God has revealed about the time we live in, called The Church Age, all the way through to The New Heaven and The New Earth.  As displayed on the chart you have before you.

Some sections of this chart will take more than one sermon to examine.  So, as you can see this chart will take some time to completely study.  We will study The End Times in all of our regular Church services, including Sunday School, so you may want to make it a point to be at all of our regularly scheduled meetings, or you WILL MISS some incredibly important revelations given about these END Times.

Today, in this sermon we will begin to examine the beginning of the Chart and Mount Calvary.

Do you understand the important impact that Calvary’s Cross had on our world?

Do you know how much Calvary’s Cross changed the only true religion in our world, the worship of Jehovah God, the creator of heaven and earth?  Folks, make no mistake about it, there is no other religion in our world that can bring you to God and get you to heaven.  Only faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will get you to heaven.  Only faith in Jesus Christ worships and seeks the one-and-only living God.  So, Calvary’s Cross means everything for mankind for all eternity to come.

Someone might say, “That is mighty presumptuous preacher.  Who are you to say that that Christianity is the only religion that can get a person to heaven?”  I want you to know that when I say this I am only repeating what GOD has already said and revealed in His Word.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:10-12 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

How do I know that the claims of Christianity are right, over and above every other religion in the world?  By Mount Calvary and the events surrounding the Crucifixion, Death, Burial, and Physical Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ settles for all time that Jesus Christ was who He claimed to be and is worthy of our worship, surrender, and total allegiance.

So, just what is the importance of Mount Calvary and the Physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ?

Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Calvary matters for,

A.   Salvation (vs 12; Luke 19.10; Job 19.25; Rom 3.25-26) –  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; - This deals with our Access To Glory.

Folks the Word of God reveals that

Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Salvation, throughout all of time has been through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Before Jesus birth and crucifixion people looked forward to a coming redeemer known as the Messiah.  Job said,

Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

People throughout history were saved by putting their faith and trust in the coming Messiah.

By the way, perhaps you didn’t know this but the Hebrew word translated “Messiah” is the equivalent of the Greek word translated “Christ.”  Both words are one and the same and point to the same person.  So, when you say “Jesus Christ” you are saying “Jesus Messiah.”

Salvation deals with the penalty for your sins, which is eternal death in the Lake of fire, and the payment of that sins debt we all owe.  We must understand that while God is a loving and a forgiving God, He is also a JUST God and God’s justice requires that our sin debt be Paid In Full.  God cannot just look over our sins because that would violate His character and make Him unjust.

In Romans we discover that,

Romans 3:25-26 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

How can God be Just and Justify our sins?  Through our Lord Jesus Christ our sins debt was paid in full on Calvary’s Cross.  That big word Propitiation means that Jesus satisfied the full penalty owed for our sins when He, in his perfection, having no sin of his own, died on the cross for you and me.

So, understand that salvation, throughout all of time, has been through faith in the promised Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, who died on Calvary’s Cross to pay in full the penalty we owed for our sins.  Glory to God.

But know, my friend, that you must accept what the Lord Jesus Christ did for you on Calvary’s Cross, and put your full trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, for that wonderful payment to count on your behalf.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Are you saved?  Are you born again?  Have you place your trust in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary’s Cross?  This you must do if you will be saved!

B.   Sacrifice (vs 10) - But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; - This is our Religious practice and Access To God.  Now notice another significant difference that was made at Calvary’s Cross that greatly impacts us here in our Church today.  Our Lord Jesus Christ changed the way we practice our religion in this Church Age.

You need to know that when Jesus Christ was born and completed His earthly ministry everything changed for all of mankind.

Have you noticed that only one man divided all of time for all the world.  Our Lord Jesus Christ marked that division of all time.  Before Christ is known as B.C. and The Year of our Lord is known as A.D.

Consider how great the difference between B.C. and A.D. has been.

1.     Before Christ, in order to gain access to God people had to come to the Tabernacle and offer sacrifices for their sins.  They needed to make an atonement.  So their Religious Ceremonies included making sacrifices and presenting the blood, that represented the life of that sacrifice, before God.

So, when a person wanted to worship God they would come to the temple and offer their sacrifice, and the priest would bring the blood of that sacrifice before God and an atonement was made.

Think about what that must have been like.  You would have to plan the trip, leave your home, bring your family and sacrifice, watch the animal killed, the blood gathered, the sacrifice pieced and laid on the altar and then the priest go to present the blood.  Now, understand that this was not for your salvation, this was to make an atonement for your sins, or to give thanks to God, or some other God given reason for the sacrifice.

What would it be like if we would have to make sacrifices right here on the altar of this church, week after week.  Sacrifices before Christ were a matter of religious ceremony and were required by God.

This all had to do with ACCESS To God.  There was a veil in the temple that separated the Holy place from the Holy of Holies and the only way anyone could come through that veil into the actual presence of God was through Sacrifices, the blood, and the Priesthood.   If you wanted to be close to God then you would have to come to the temple, make your sacrifices, and have the priest bring the blood of those sacrifices before God.   That is as close as you could ever get to God.

2.     After Christ (vs 12; Matt 27.51; Heb 4.14-16; 10.25), Now notice our text again, - But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, . . . – Our Lord Jesus Christ was the one perfect sacrifice, toward whom every Old Testament sacrifice pointed.  Jesus Christ and what He did on Calvary’s Cross made it so that no other sacrifice would ever be needed again.

The Lord Jesus Christ was “One sacrifice for sins forever!”  I thank God that no other sacrifice will ever be needed again.

When Jesus died on Calvary’s Cross the Bible reads,

Matthew 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

This was God’s way of showing us that the way to God, our access to God, had been opened for us by our Lord Jesus Christ.  The Word of God now reveals,

Hebrews 4:14-16 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

In this Church Age our religious worship has been dramatically enhanced and changed.  We do not need to make sacrifices anymore and we no longer need a priest for we all, as born-again Christians, have direct access to God.

Because of this The Church was established by our Lord Jesus Christ, and we are all called to come and worship, praise, and serve in our Lord’s kingdom until He comes to take His people home to Him in eternity to come, at The Rapture of the Church.

Our Lord Jesus Christ calls you, even commands you, to be a part of and involved in His Church.  The Word of God proclaims,

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Folks, make no mistake about it, the Word of God calls you to be in Church and active in your Church.   You should never forsake the assembling of yourself with your Church.  When your Church is meeting you should be there.  You ought to want to be there and if you don’t want to be there then you must ask yourself why and are you really ready to stand face-to-face with the Lord Jesus Christ.

So, we notice that Calvary changed everything in our religious worship and was the beginning of the Church and The Church Age.

C.   Security (vs 12; Acts 1.9; Heb 10.12-13) - But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; – We are Eternally Saved and secure in our Lord Jesus Christ.  Notice where our Lord Jesus Christ is right now, today.  He is seated at the right hand of God.

How did Jesus get there?

Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

For How Long?

Hebrews 10:12-13 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

One day soon, at the Rapture, our Heavenly Father will say to our Lord Jesus Christ, “It is time.”  I don’t know when that time will be, our Lord said He did not know when that time would be.  Only the Father knows when that time will be.  But when that time comes, there will be the shout of the arch angel, and the trump of God, and we which are alive will be taken up to meet our Lord in the air.

At that moment we will enter into eternity, and we will live for all eternity to come with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Who will be taken at this rapture?  All who are born again, which is all who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

So, are you ready?  Are you born again?  You had better get ready for it could be today when the Lord Jesus Christ raptures His Church.
