[Genesis is the book of beginnings.
In it God reveals those things that we could not know if God did
not tell us about them.
Why? Because God was the
only one that was there when it all happened.
So in Genesis chapters 1-2 God
tells us how everything began.
Notice,]
[Genesis 1:1-2
1
In the beginning
God created
the heaven and the earth. 2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness
was upon the face of
the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. ]
[If you can accept the first five words of the Bible
then you have this Bible thing well in hand and the whole of the Bible
will come together as you read it and study it.
But there are many who want to allegorize the Bible and argue
away the whole of the first two chapters of the Bible.
In this study we are going to investigate what God says about the
origins of mankind and the beginning of all things.]
[Notice that God says the earth was without form and
void. This taken literally
means there was nothing upon nothing.
Then God spoke and boom there it was, matter filled the expanse
of space and God’s creative work began.
This is about as close as I will ever come to the Big Bang
Theory. I believe that when
God said, “Let there be . . .,”
Then there was and as something broke massively into nothing there may
have been some noise involved.” ]
So what does God tell us about creation?
A.
The Days Of Creation [–
A Survey of the Bible Story]
1.
Day
One - God Gave Dispensation (Gen 1.3-5; 2 Kings 20.10-11; Joshua
10.12-14) [–
And God said,
Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that
it was good: and God
divided the light from the darkness. 5
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called
Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. - A
Dispensation is a time frame, generally recognized as existing between
two events that mark out a period of time as distinct from another
period of time. The
dispensation of interest in these verses is the dispensation of a day.
God says the evening and
the morning were the first day.]
[The
Word Of God - Notice in verse one and throughout our text that God
speaks and it occurs when dealing with creation in general.
Almost all of God’s creative acts, whether bringing new matter
into existence or molding the matter already existing occurs by the word
of God.]
a.
[The
creation of illumination (vs 3) –
And God said, Let there be light:
and there was light. - Can there be light without planets?
Since the stars, sun and moon are not created until the forth
day.]
1)
[That
there is latent light, which is probably the same with latent
heat, may be easily demonstrated: take two pieces of smooth rock
crystal, agate, cornelian or flint, and rub them together briskly in the
dark, and the latent light or matter of caloric will be immediately
produced and become visible.[1]]
2)
[Someone has suggested that this may be seen in
a dark room by chewing celery with ones mouth open.]
b.
[The
separation of the light from the darkness (vs 4) -
And God saw the light, that
it was good: and God
divided the light from the darkness. – It seems obvious to me that
God is clearly
defining time.
Thus expressing that God is the creator and controller of time.
Many view God as us, restrained by time, because all we have ever
known is the limitations of time.
However, God exists in eternity and is unrestrained by time.
Instead the
Bible clearly demonstrates that God has absolute control over time.
There are at least two
undeniable examples of this fact in the Bible,]
[King
Hezekiah and the Sun Dial]
[2
Kings 20:10-11
10 And Hezekiah answered, It is
a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the
shadow return
backward ten degrees. 11
And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought
the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial
of Ahaz.]
[Joshua’s lengthened day]
[Joshua 10:12-14
12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD
in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children
of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,
Sun, stand thou
still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13
And the sun
stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged
themselves upon their enemies.
Is not this written in
the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and
hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14 And there was no day like
that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a
man: for the LORD fought for Israel. ]
c.
[The
distinction of one 24-hour day (vs 5) -
And God called the light Day, and
the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the
first day.- One day and one night.
There has been great debate about what the word day means in
Genesis.]
[Day
–י֔וֹם
(Hb)
- day, i.e., a unit of time reckoned from sunset to the next
sunset, including two or more segments (morning and evening) about 24
hours (Ge 1:5), cf. also 3429; 2. LN 67.163-67.200 day,
i.e., the period of time which has light (Ge 1:5); 3. LN
67.142-67.162 time period, formally, day, i.e., an indefinite
time period, ranging from relatively short to very long, years and
beyond (Ex 2:23);[2]
. . . ]
[Day
as a period of time whether long or short - Some argue that the word
day in Genesis chapter one does not necessarily mean a 24 hour period of
time. It could mean a long
period of time which could include millions of years, allowing for
evolution. We will discuss
evolution latter.]
[Day
as a day, 24 hour period of time – That God means a 24 hour day when
the word day is used seems obvious to me in the context of the verse.
When God says, And the
evening and the morning were the first day, then the period of time
is absolutely defined. But
in support of a day meaning 24 hours I refer you to,]
[Exodus 31:14-17
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath
therefore; for it is
holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death:
for whosoever doeth any
work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done;
but in the seventh is
the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth
any work in the sabbath
day, he shall surely be put to death. 16
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to
observe the sabbath throughout their generations,
for a perpetual
covenant. 17
It
is a sign between me
and the children of Israel for ever: for
in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was
refreshed.]
[In this context the word day means nothing
other than a 24 hour day and creation is spoken of as taking but six
days.]
2.
Day
Two - God Gave Habitation (Gen 1.6-8; 2 Cor 12.2-4)
a.
[The
firmament is in the midst of the waters (vs 6-7) -
And God said, Let there be a
firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from
the waters. 7 And God made
the firmament, and divided the waters which
were under the
firmament from the waters which
were above the
firmament: and it was so. - With waters above and below.]
["Scientist have told us this.
Above us now - don't get paranoid - but above us there is a great
expanse of water up there that is suspended.
It's suspended and held by the power of God.
How much water is above there.
At their best estimates, there's
57,460,000,000
gallons of water above us right now."[3]
We call this expanse of water our atmosphere.]
[Kent
Hovind suggests that before the flood there was an ice canopy that
covered the earth, this canopy was shattered and dropped upon the earth
at Noah’s flood. This
canopy would have created a much higher barometric pressure upon the
face of the earth and would have explained the extended life spans
before Noah’s flood.]
[Barometric pressure - One seminary professor believed that this
would have caused the barometric pressure on the face of the earth to be
greatly increased. He also
claimed that an increased barometric pressure could have cause some
diseases like cancer to become dormant.[4]]
[Some creation scientists are now abandoning
the vapor canopy theory due to the heat that such a canopy might create
upon the face of the earth.[5]]
b.
[Our
atmosphere (vs 8) - And God
called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the
second day. - God called the firmament heaven.
There are basically three heavens referred to in the Bible.]
1)
The First Heaven is our atmosphere – This is
referred to here in our text, our atmosphere is this first heaven..
2)
The Second heaven we refer to as outer space.
3)
The Third heaven is the place where God resides
(2 Cor 12.2-4).
3.
Day
Three - God Gave Vegetation (Gen 1.9-13)
a.
[God causes the dry land to appear (vs 9-10) -
And God said, Let the waters
under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry
land appear: and it was
so. 10 And God called the
dry land Earth; and the
gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that
it was good. - He
calls them earth and sea.]
b.
[God causes vegetation to appear (vs 11-13) -
And God said, Let the earth bring
forth grass, the herb yielding seed,
and the fruit tree
yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed
is in itself, upon the
earth: and it was so. 12
And the earth brought forth grass,
and herb yielding seed
after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed
was in itself, after
his kind: and God saw that it
was good. 13 And the
evening and the morning were the third day.]
4.
Day
Four - God Gave Direction (Gen 1.14-19; Matt 2.1-2)
a.
[The stars appear for signs, seasons, days, and
years (vs 14-15) - And God said,
Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day
from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for
days, and years: 15 And let
them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the
earth: and it was so. – God specifically set the stars in the
heavens to give direction to mankind.
They mark out time and are signs for major events.]
[The Wise Men at Jesus birth are our greatest
example of the signs expressed through the stars,]
[Matthew 2:1-2
1 Now when Jesus was born in
Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came
wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews?
for we have seen
his star in the east, and are come to worship him.]
[Dr. D. James Kennedy
before his death preached a
series of sermons, and may have a book out, about the Gospel in the
Stars. It was a compelling
study as I recall it. But
his study was starkly different for astronomy or astrology, which are
deceptive and corrupt in their use and understanding of the stras.]
b.
[God set the Sun and Moon in their place to
light the earth (vs 16-19) - And
God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the
lesser light to rule the night:
he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the
firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, - Now here is
something that baffles the human mind.
God did not place the sun and moon in the sky until the forth
day.]
5.
Day
Five - God Gave Multiplication (Gen 1.20-23; Job 40.15-19)
a.
[The sea creatures and fowls are created (vs
20-21) - And God said, Let the
waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and
fowl that may fly above
the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales,
and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth
abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and
God saw that it was
good.]
1)
[Whales
-
תַּנִּינִ֖ם (Hb) -
sea monster,
sea-dragon, i.e., a serpent-like monster (of myth?) that lives in the
deep (of river or ocean), which can only be controlled by great powers
(Ne 2:13; Job 7:12; Ps 74:13; Isa 27:1; 51:9; Eze 29:3; 32:2+)
2. LN 4.58-4.61 sea
creatures, i.e., very large, impressive-looking creatures of the
oceans, including very large fish and large marine mammals (Ge 1:21; Ps
148:7+), note: possibly referring to a sea monster; 3. LN
4.51-4.57 serpent, snake, i.e., a limbless reptile with a
poisonous venom (Ex 7:9, 10, 12; Dt 32:33; Ps 91:13+); 4. LN
4.51-4.57 serpent monster, dragon, i.e., a serpent-like monster
(of myth?) that lives on land, capable of consuming whole persons (Jer
51:34+), note: possibly referring to a sea monster[6]]
2)
[Behemoth
(Job 40.15-19)]
[Job
40:15-19
15 Behold now behemoth, which I
made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength
is in his loins, and
his force is in the
navel of his belly. 17 He
moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped
together. 18 His bones
are as strong pieces of
brass; his bones are
like bars of iron. 19 He
is the chief of the
ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach
unto him. ]
b.
[God commands them to be fruitful and
multiply (vs 22-23) - And God
blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in
the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23 And the evening and the
morning were the fifth day.]
6.
Day
Six - God Gave Domination (Gen 1.24-30)
a.
[God created land based animals (vs 24-25) -
And God said,
Let the earth
bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and
creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25 And God made the beast
of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every
thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that
it was good. –
Every land based creature is formed or made from the elements in the
earth.
b.
[God created man in His image (vs 26-27) -
And God said,
Let us make man
in our image, after our likeness:
and let them
have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle,
and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon
the earth.27 So God created man in his
own image, in the image
of God created he him; male and female created he them. - Unlike any
other creature.]
c.
[God gave mankind dominion (vs 28-30) -
And God blessed
them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish
the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and
over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon
the earth. 29 And God said,
Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which
is upon the face of all
the earth, and every tree, in the which
is the fruit of a tree
yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the
earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth
upon the earth, wherein there
is life, I have given
every green herb for meat: and it was so.
1)
[Dominion
- radah (Hb) - 1) to rule,
have dominion, dominate, tread down 1a) (Qal) to have dominion, rule,
subjugate]
7.
Day
Seven - God Gives Recreation (Gen 1.31-2.1-3;
Exo 20.11;
31.14-17) [- God
rested for His work.]
a.
The creation is Finished (Gen 1.31-2.2) –
And God saw every
thing that he
had made, and, behold,
it was
very good.
And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
1 Thus the heavens and the earth
were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God
ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from
all his work which he had made.
[Satan's
fall? God declares
everything He has made to be very Good.
I suggest that at this point Satan has not yet fallen with his
demons.]
b.
[God's Creation is finished in six twenty-four
hour days (Exo 20.11;
31.14-17) - Creation
does not continue to evolve from God's finished work.]
[Exodus 20:11 For
in six days the Lord
made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them
is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the Lord
blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. ]
[Exodus 31:14-17
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath
therefore; for it is
holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death:
for whosoever doeth any
work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done;
but in the seventh is
the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth
any work in the sabbath
day, he shall surely be put to death. 16
Wherefore the children of Israel shall
keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations,
for a perpetual
covenant. 17 It
is a sign between me
and the children of Israel for ever: for
in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was
refreshed.
c.
[God sanctified the seventh day for the sake of
restoration or renewal (Gen 2.3) -
And
God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he
had rested from all his work which God created and made. -
It is important to remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ
concerning the Sabbaths Day.
Jesus Said,]
[Mark 2:27
27 And he said unto them, The
sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: ]
[It is equally important that we remember the
commands of God concerning the Sabbath Day.]
[Exodus 20:9-11
9 Six days shalt thou labour,
and do all thy work: 10 But
the seventh day is the
sabbath of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy
daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within
thy gates: 11 For
in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them
is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed
it. ]
[We must be careful that the Sabbath Day does
not become so much a day of personal recreation or pleasure that we
forget it is to be a day of recreation and restoration with our Heavenly
Father as well.]
B.
A Distinct Creation [–
Mankind was a distinctively unique creation]
1.
The Molding Of Adam (Gen 1.26-27;
2.7; 1 Cor 15.39-41) [–
There are many in our day who declare that mankind is nothing more than
a highly evolved animal.
They call us mammals making whales, dolphins, bears, cows and pigs on a
level equal with mankind.
It is no wonder that our children act like mere animals when they spend
their many years in our systems of education being taught that they are
nothing but animals. But
the bible reveals something very distinct about mankind in comparison to
animals. Of mankind God
says,]
[Genesis 1:24
24 And God said,
Let the earth
bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and
creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. ]
[Genesis 1:26-27
26 And God said,
Let us make man
in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the
cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth. 27
So God created
man in his own image,
in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
]
[Genesis 2:7 7
And the LORD God
formed man of the dust
of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living soul. ]
[Two things set mankind apart from every
other creation,]
[God’s Hand -
In Genesis 1.24, God
commanded and the earth brought forth the living creatures and every
animal. In Genesis 1.26-27 God gives special commands and attention to
the creation of mankind.
God specifically states that mankind would be uniquely created in the
very image of God. Then
Genesis 2.7 notes that God himself formed mankind from the dust of
the ground. It is as if God
reached down from heaven and personally formed and molded Adam.
God meticulously picked out each and every specific element to
place them carefully and purposefully together.
Mankind was uniquely and intelligently designed by almighty God.
We are the specific and special design of God.]
[Paul
wrote,]
[1 Corinthians 15:39-41
39
All flesh
is not the same flesh:
but there is one
kind of flesh of men,
another flesh of beasts, another of fishes,
and another of birds.
40
There are also
celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial
is one, and the
glory of the
terrestrial is another.
41
There is one glory of
the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars:
for one star differeth
from another star in
glory. ]
2.
The Marvel Of Adam (Genesis 2.7)
[- The Breath of God - And
the LORD God formed man of
the dust of the ground,
and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living
soul. – Genesis 2.7
then specifically states that God himself breathed the breath of life
into Adam. Today we call this artificial respiration, God called it
creative respiration. We
are much more than any other created thing or beast.
The Marvel of Adam is that while many creatures breathe God’s
air, only mankind has the breath of God within Him which gives us a
unique kind of existence.]
3.
The Mind Of Adam (Genesis 2.7) [-
And the LORD God formed man
of the dust of the
ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a
living soul. -
With that breath mankind
was made in the image of God; a thinking, engineering, creative, living
soul. This is the part of
mankind that sets us truly apart from every other creature.
Every other creature has instincts and to a certain extent
thought. But only mankind
has thoughtfulness. Only
mankind has vision and can dream of the future.
Only mankind has a truly free will and a creative will (in an
engineering sort of way).
The ability to express creative thought and a creative will sets mankind
uniquely apart form every other creature.
This is the undeniable handiwork of Almighty God.]
C.
The Dismay OF Creation [–
Creation vs Evolution – God
gave mankind such a uniqueness and such a self will that mankind even
has the ability to rebel against our creator and even deny our creator.
God gave us that much command over our own lives.
So that mankind has come up with a number of foolish ideas about
the origin of mankind.
Evolution is utter foolishness and I do not have the time to examine
evolution in detail. So I
will merely touch on those elements of evolution, lightly so, that
directly affect our theology.]
1.
The
Gap Theory (Genesis 1.1-2; 1 Cor 15.45-47; Matt 19.4-6) [-
In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth. 2
And the earth
was without form, and void; and darkness
was upon the face of
the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. –
I have seen this theory taught by men like Larkin.
This theory was largely taught from the late 1800’s all the way
up to today as a means of trying to syncretise (as in syncretism)
science and theology, mistakenly so.
This theory teaches, ]
a.
[The reconstruction process.]
1)
[Genesis 1.1 presents a completed creation with
inhabitants.]
2)
[Somewhere in Earths history creation became
without form and void. By
this the Gap Theory means became ruined and became desolate.
Thus a long expanse of time elapsed between Genesis 1.1 and
Genesis 1.2 thus providing the time frame needed for evolution.]
3)
[The inhabitants of this pre-Adamic race became
the disembodied spirits that we now refer to as demons.]
4)
[The Gap Theory endeavors to support the
scientific claims of Evolution.]
b.
[The meaning of the words without form and
void.]
[Without
Form -
תֹ֙הוּ֙ (Hb)- formlessness, emptiness, i.e.,
a state of empty
space and so nothingness, so not having a shape, implied to
be a state prior to order and form (Ge 1:2; Job 26:7; Isa 45:18; Jer
4:23+) see also domain LN 58.14–58.18; 2. LN 1.86-1.87
wasteland, i.e., what is barren and void of use, as tracts of
unpopulated land (Dt 32:10; Job 6:18; 12:24; Ps 107:40+); 3. LN
6.96-6.101 idol, i.e., an object which are worshiped, with a
special focus on the uselessness and worthlessness of the fashioned
object (1Sa 12:21(2x)+); 4. LN 20.31-20.60
ruination, destruction, i.e., what has been destroyed and in chaos
and confusion (Isa 24:10; 34:11+); 5. LN 65.1-65.16 vanity,
nothingness, i.e., what is worthless and lacking in value, implying a
very low status in some contexts (Isa 40:17, 23; 41:29; 44:9; 45:19;
49:4+); 6. LN 33.251-33.255 false testimony, i.e., speech
which is empty and void of truth, so false in reasoning or facts (Isa
29:21; 59:4+)[7]]
[Void
-
וָבֹ֔הוּ (Hb) -
emptiness, the void, i.e.,
an emptiness
that shows lack of order (Ge 1:2; Jer 4:23+) note: some
interp this as a void from a prior creation, see WBC1:5; 2. LN14
unit: תֹּהו וְ־
בֹּהוּ (tōhw w- bō∙hû)
total chaos,
i.e., a physical state of total lack of order (Ge 1:2; Jer
4:23+), note: some give the associative meaning of this chaos as a
contest of deities, see WBC1 for discussion; 3. LN 20.31-20.60
unit: אֶבֶן
בֹּהוּ (ʾě∙ḇěn bō∙hû) plumb line of desolation, i.e., a
figurative and ironic meaning of destruction (Isa 34:11+), note: the
irony is, of course, that a plummet line is normally used for
construction not destruction and the chaos that is associated with
destruction[8]]
c.
[There is nothing in scripture to support the
ideas of the Gap Theory.
However there is much that stands against it.
Paul wrote if Adam,]
[1
Corinthians 15:45-47
45 And so it is written,
The first man
Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam
was made a quickening
spirit. 46 Howbeit that
was not first which is
spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is
spiritual. 47
The first man
is of the earth, earthy:
the second man is the
Lord from heaven. ]
[Jesus said,]
[Matthew 19:4-6
4 And he answered and said unto
them, Have ye not read, that he which made
them
at the beginning
made them male and female, 5
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and
mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6 Wherefore they are no
more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let
not man put asunder. ]
[In my opinion this is as much an endorsement
by Jesus of the creative process as one should need.
He references the beginning and endorses that God made Adam and
Eve just as recorded in the Scriptures.]

Theistic Evolution (Gen 1.3-5; Exodus 31.14-17; 20.9-11) [-
Theistic Evolution is another
attempt to unite the Bible with so called sciences evolution.
Theistic Evolution teaches that the word “day” of Genesis Chapter
one does not really mean a day, that it can also mean a long span of
time. Recalling what we
studied on Day One of creation we are reminded that while the word for
day may arguably mean a period of time its usage in its context defines
the word definitely.
The Bible reads,]
[Genesis 1:3-5
3 And God said, Let there be
light: and there was light. 4
And God saw the light, that
it was good: and God
divided the light from the darkness. 5
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called
Night.
And the evening
and the morning were the first day. ]
[If
this context is not enough to be definitive then consider,
[Exodus 31:14-17
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath
therefore; for it is
holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death:
for whosoever doeth any
work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done;
but in the seventh is
the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth
any work in the sabbath
day, he shall surely be put to death. 16
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to
observe the sabbath throughout their generations,
for a perpetual
covenant. 17
It
is a sign between me
and the children of Israel for ever: for
in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was
refreshed.]
[If more is needed then consider,]
[Exodus 20:9-11
9 Six days shalt thou labour,
and do all thy work: 10 But
the seventh day is the
sabbath of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy
daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within
thy gates: 11 For
in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them
is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed
it. ]
[In these contexts the word day means nothing
other than a 24 hour day and creation is spoken of as taking but six 24
hour days.]
[There just is on room in the Bible for
evolution. The truth is
there is no need to try and syncretise (as in syncretism) evolution with
theology. The scientific
evidence supporting a young earth and the Biblical description of the
Genesis of all things is compelling.
Answers in Genesis and Dr. Dino (Kent Hovind) have done much to
collate and present this evidence.
The Intelligent Design community, while perhaps not thoroughly
accepting the Bible and its descriptions have done much to reveal that
there must be a creator God, there just is no other explanation for the
intricacies of our creation.
About the only places where Evolution is still supported in our
culture is in our public school and colleges where teachers and
professors refuse to diligently study the science, yet teach most of our
population.[9]]
