have just read the story of Jacobs ladder.
Jacob, running for his life from his brother, spent a night with
a rock for his pillow and saw this vision.
He saw a vision of a ladder ascending up to God with angels
ascending and descending on that ladder.
And God promised,]
13 And, behold, the LORD stood
above it, and said, I am
the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land
whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the
east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed
shall all the families of the earth be blessed.]

they make with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our country has a multitude of memorials that remind us of God’s

Without a shadow of doubt those memorials record our Christian

our country has entered into with our mighty and glorious Heavenly

history is not new to our culture.
It has been occurring over the last couple of generations so
that, today there are whole segments of our culture that hold the lies
of our recent American History thinking that Christianity was not a part
of our founding as a nation.
But their history is far from the truth.]
historians seek to remove our Christian roots from our history because,
He who controls the history molds the culture.
Our culture is on a downward spiral into chaos because our people
have been taught that liberty is license and license without
responsibility results in utter chaos.
The truth is that freedom is never free, it comes at a great
expense and stands upon an undeniable foundation.

tyranny will arise.]

This means that there is one Government worker for every 9

[It is the people of

character. If our citizens

Now what is moral character.
Your character is your sense of honor, integrity and goodness
within yourself. Your
character deals with your personal convictions and responsibilities to
yourself, when nobody else is watching.
Your character is reflected by what you will allow yourself to do
when you have nobody to answer to but just you.
When no one will call you to task for what you are doing, then
what will you allow yourself to do.]

accountability we will allow ourselves to do a great many things that we
would never allow if we felt we would be held responsible for our

character than we would otherwise have.]
Big Government, Our government forces us to be reasonably
responsible. The more
personal responsibility we take upon ourselves the less our government
needs to try and hold us accountable, the fewer laws and law enforcement
we need. Therefore, if our
people have moral character and hold themselves responsible for their
choices then we need less government.
The problem in America is that people are becoming
less responsible for their actions.
They are showing less and less personal character and the only
response must be more laws and more government to try and control the
failing moral character of our nation and its people.]
a Christian, there is a continuous accountability that is an
inherent part of our faith.
Our Heavenly Father is always watching and will hold His children
responsible for their actions.
There is a judgment coming and we will be judged for the good and
the bad that we do. Our God
is always watching, He is always recording, He is always holding us
accountable for our choices and actions.
This reality builds within a Christian a strong moral character.
So that a Christian knows that he or she is never truly alone and
every act is laid open before their Holy Lord God.
This builds an undeniable character within every truly born again

government is a direct result of the failing character in America, and
America’s character is grown inside of each of America’s citizens.
As America’s character diminishes our
government grows and tries to legislate morality.]
Legislating Morality (Gal 3.19-26)
[– The truth is that
morality can never be legislated.
Laws are made to try and force people to do the right things.
Laws try to make people be responsible and if they still refuse
to be responsible then they force people to be accountable.
But a law is only as good as its enforcement and enforcement
requires “bean counters” or someone to detect the transgression, someone
to judge the transaction, and someone to enforce the required penalty or
our cultures moral fiber is based upon our laws then people will only be
as good as they are forced to be, and that depends on how likely they
are to get caught. I
heard and youth say one time, “It’s only wrong if you get caught.”
This is a dangerous mindset for any one to hold.
This mindset will eventually result in chaos and tyranny in our
culture. This mindset
stands in stark contrast to liberty and freedom.
This mindset is why our government is growing and striving to
control every aspect of our lives.]

Is the law then against
the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which
could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Liberty Rests Upon Christ
[– Without any doubt the forefathers and founders of our
United States of America
were men who recognize the necessity of Christianity in America.
We often talk about the freedom of religion and we know that our
founding father spoke and wrote often about the freedom of religion in
these United States.
But do we really know what they meant when they spoke of religion
in this great country?]
Our Founders Voices About Religion
[– Our founding
fathers spoke often about the importance of religion, and its resulting
morality or character within people.]
Adams, June 21, 1776,
“Statesmen, my dear sir, may plan and speculate for liberty,
but it is
Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon
which freedom can securely stand.” ]
[Without doubt John Adams knew that our freedom could not stand without
morality or character in our people and where does that morality come
from, its only source is religion.
its religion. America
will not be free for long if it is ever free from its religion.]
Thomas Jefferson wrote,
I am for
and against all maneuvers to bring about a legal ascendancy
of one sect over another.
[True religion will only work if it is free
religion. In the old world,
the European old world, where our forefathers came from, for many years
religion and government were one and the same.
In many cultures in our world this is still largely true.
In these cultures we see the same thing that was seen in these
old, dark ages, cultures.
There is repression and tyranny.
People are forced to give lip service to a religious system for
fear of their lives.
Hence many today
think that freedom must be void of all religion.
Contrary to their philosophies, freedom rests on free religion.
People must be free to recognize and choose the Lord Jesus Christ
for themselves and must be free to worship Him freely.]
Because forced religion is no religion at all and only true
religion will develop character, and character (as we have already seen)
is absolutely necessary for liberty to survive and thrive.]
[James Madison, June 20, 1785 wrote,
we assert for ourselves a freedom to embrace, to
profess, and to observe the Religion which we
believe to be of divine origin,
we cannot deny
an equal freedom to those whose minds have not yet
yielded to the evidence which has convinced us.
If this freedom be abused, it is an offence
against God, not against man: To God, therefore, not to man, must an
account of it be rendered.]
[What is it that James Madison said here? He
said if we will live under the benefits of a freedom of religion then we
must let it be free indeed.
People must choose to love God and to worship Him.
The truth is that no one can be forced to know the Lord Jesus
Christ, for this then would be forced religion, and forced religion is
no religion at all.]
[So as our founders were for the freedom of
religion. So am I, and I
call all of my fellow citizens to support the freedom of religion in our
society, for heartfelt faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation

Our Founders Views Of Religion

fathers mean when they spoke of religion and the freedom of religion?

words today? Or
did they have something more direct and narrow in mind.

even in the freedom to refuse religion.
But when they spoke of religion the Lord Jesus Christ was in
their minds and Christianity was on their lips.
