 A.   The Biblical Account (Mark 16.1-8).

 1.     They came Expecting a dead body (Mark 16.1-4) [– And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. 3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.]

 2.     They Entered an empty tomb (Mark 16.5-6) [– And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. ]

 3.     They Experienced the supernatural (Mark 16.5; Matt 28.1-7) [– And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. - Angel, Resurrection.]

[Matthew 28:1-7 1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.]

4.     They Exploded in great joy (Mark 16.8; Matt 28.8; Luke 24.11; John 20.2,13,18) [- And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid. ]

[Matthew 28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. ]

[Luke 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. ]

[John 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.]

[John 20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. ]

[John 20:18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her. ]

5.     They Encoutnered Jesus physical presence (Mark 16.14-16; Luke 24.34-39; Rom 10.9) [Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.]

[Luke 24:36-39 36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. ]

[Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ]

B.   The Resurrection Today (1 Pet 1.3-5) – His Resurrection means that,

[1 Peter 1:3-5 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ]

1.     You are Specially Loved (1 Pet 1.3; John 3.16; Rom 5.8) [– Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy . . . - God’s unfailing love for you is never-ending]

[John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.]

[Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.]

2.     You are Supernaturally Adopted (1 Pet 1.3) [– Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again . . . -  You are a new creation in Christ]

[John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.]

[John 1:12-13 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.]

3.     You are Spiritually Encouraged (1 Pet 1.3; Col 1.27) [– Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, . . .  Hope is alive in this world for youA living, vibrant, present hope.  This world will try to drag you down, to make you feel hopeless and perhaps worthless; but in Christ you have a new and promised hope.]

[Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:]

4.     You are Significantly Resourced (1 Pet 1.4)  [–To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, - You have an eternal purpose to live for]

 5.     You are Sovereignly Secured (1 Pet 1.5) [– Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. - You have an Everlasting Assurance]
