[Thus far in this study we have examined,]

[Calvary and the Dividing of Time]

[Hades and God’s revealed plan for mortal death in our time.]

[The Church Age and God’s revelation concerning this dispensation of grace.]

[The Judgment Seat of Christ or the Bema of Christ, the accounting we will make, and the rewards we can receive.]

[The Glorious Marriage Supper of the Lamb – A celebration that every human being should want to attend.  A glorious, radiant event.

[We are now looking into,]

[The Great Tribulation Period – A Time unlike any other time in human history according to The Word of God.]

[The Seven Seals – And the terror they release upon mankind.  A full quarter of our world’s population destroyed during these seven seals.]

[Thus far we have only begun to touch on those things revealed in the Word of God about the Tribulation Period.  Famine and pestilence on a global scale, death and decay everywhere, and this is only the beginning of the prophecies surrounding this horrible period called The Great Tribulation Period.]

[Read: Revelation 8.1-6]

[As we come into this portion of The Word of God that includes the Seven Trumpet Judgments, the passage opens with a view of the Altar of Incense that stood before the presence of our holy and powerful Lord God Almighty.  We watch as an angel pours incense upon this altar, representing the Prayers of the Saints.]

[These, my brothers and sisters are your prayers and my prayers.  They are the prayers of the martyrs throughout the ages, both before our Lord Jesus Christ and after His ascension on high.  These prayers represent the injustices leveled against the people of God; they represent their percussions and martyrdom.  They represent their trials and hardships.  And most importantly these prayers represent their witness and testimonies.  How they, and we, pleaded for this world and all the lost souls in it, while they rebelled against and rejected a holy God.]

[We watch as the altar of incense is cast onto the earth, thus declaring that these prayers have been heard, mercy and grace have long been extended, and this world’s people have continued to rebel and fight against the Love of God.  Now, their judgment is coming, and,]

[Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.]

Then Immediately the Trumpets of Judgment begin to sound, listen to the Word of God,]

1.     The First Trumpet (Rev 8.7) – Fire, Hail, Blood [– The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. – When we read about these Trumpets we see phenomenal natural disasters, in appearance, happening with the sounding of each trumpet.  This first one brings Hail Mingled With Blood cast down upon the earth.  So much so that a third part of trees and all green grass were burned up.]

[The Third Part – I speculate, and this is my opinion, that this third part may represent largely North and South America.  It is curious to me, that America, who has long been the friend of Israel, never comes to Israel’s aid during these Tribulation Period events.  Why is America never seen helping Israel?  I speculate that it is because America CANNOT help Israel.  It just happens that North and South America comprise almost exactly one-third of the world’s land mass.  Perhaps it is North and South America that take the brunt of these judgments.  And perhaps these judgments are cast upon us because in these last days we have left the gracious God who has poured His great bounty, mercy, and grace upon us.  Only the fulfillment of these events will reveal whether my speculation is correct or not.]

[But don’t think, if you live in other parts of the world, that these judgments will not impact you.  Destruction on this level will impact all the world, without any doubt.  The revelation that “All” green grass is burnt up indicates a worldwide impact.]

[Such terror, one third of all trees and all green grass gone from the face of the earth.  What will grazing herds eat?]

2.     The Second Trumpet (Rev 8.8) – Fiery Mountain [– And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;  9And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. - Now, we see “. . . as it were . . .”, something indescribable in human vernacular.  Whenever a prophet writes, as is were, it is that he does not fully know how to describe what he has seen.  He is offering the best description he can give.]

[Here is something that perhaps looks like a great mountain cast into the sea, with great destructive force.  Now, don’t even begin to imagine that this massive element cast into the sea would only affect the sea.  We KNOW from experience that anything that happens in the sea to disrupt a large body of water invariably affects all land masses around that reservoir.  There will be great tsunamis or tide waves that will undoubtedly pound the surrounding land masses with great destructive force.  The tsunami of 2004 killed tens of thousands and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes with massive waves traveling at speeds faster than the speed of sound; and this was merely the result of an underwater earthquake.  Imagine the result of a huge mass cast suddenly into the sea.]

[The Word of God reveals that one-third of the sea became as blood and one-third of everything in the sea, living and manmade, were completely destroyed.  Unimaginable is the description of the destruction accompanying this trumpet and its judgment.]

[And yet I can almost hear the news braodcasters saying, “This is a natural disaster.” For none will willingly attribute these events to Almighty-God.  Just as Pharaoh in Egypt refused to recognize God when the plagues were sent against Egypt.  So does mankind today, natural disasters occur and any who would suggest that these are God’s judgments are laughed to scorn.]

3.     The Third Trumpet (Rev 8.10-11; Joel 2.30) – Great Star [- And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. – Here we have described a great star from heaven “. . . as it were a lamp . . .”.  Many speculate that this is a planetary body, maybe an asteroid or something like that.  I might suggest that the great light might speak of nuclear bombs, since in the Old Testament,]

[Joel 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. ]

[We also know that accompanying a nuclear blast is a brilliant flash of light, what if there were many hundreds of these nuclear detonations covering a large area of land.  The radiation fallout would be devastating and poisonous to mankind, just as it was in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The black rain of death killed many thousands following those devastating attacks.]

[It could also be some kind of asteroid or a large meteor, as was experienced over Russia a few years ago.  The brilliant light and devastating blast affected many thousands.  What if this were a very large stellar body?]

[As a result of this terrible judgment one-third, there it is again, of all fresh water will become as poison to mankind and many people will die from these bitter waters.  How terrible, to be thirsty beyond thirst, and to only die as a result of drinking what once was the elixir of life, fresh water.]

4.     The Forth Trumpet (Rev 8.12-13) – A Nuclear Winter [- And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. 13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound! – With this fourth trumpet is described what I can only call a nuclear winter.  Perhaps it is a nuclear winter, or perhaps it is the massive cloud that science speculates will follow a large asteroid strike upon the earth.  In either case the sun, moon, and stars are smitten or blocked out by at least one-third part.  Plants will not grow in such conditions, temperatures plummet as the sun’s rays cannot warm the earth, and all the world suffers on a scale never seen before.  One might say that a global ice age covers the world, such as was predicted in the 60’s-70’s when I was a child.  In recent years science predicted global warming, when I was a child it was a coming Ice-Age, according to the Word of God it will be a nuclear or meteorological winter.]

[What terrible and unfathomable catastrophes will be upon this earth during The Tribulation Period.  Yet, listen to the declaration of the Word of God here,

[Revelation 8:13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound! ]

[As terrible and unbearable as these events, or judgments will be, they are not the worst of God’s Judgments.  The worst is yet to come as the last three trumpets are described as “Woe, Woe, and Woe.”]

5.     The Fifth Trumpet (Rev 9.1-12) – The First Woe, Demon Locusts [- And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. – With this trumpet an angel is seen falling from Heaven and he opens the bottomless pit.  This pit is filled with all kinds of demonic, fallen angels, reserved in this pit for just this occasion.  Those who think for even a moment that God is less than merciful, less than loving, will experience for the first time the diabolical evil of the realm of those angels who hate God and oppose Him in every way.  This will be their first taste of the removal in part of God’s protection.]

[Notice their purpose,]

[Revelation 9:4-5 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.]

[They will torment people, but only those people who do not belong to God.  My friend if you are listening to this message today, and you are not a saved, born-again believer, then these will torment you.  Why?  Because no one who hears the gospel message and rejects the Lord Jesus Christ before the rapture will get saved after the rapture.  Clearly, people will get saved during the Tribulation Period, but you will not, according to the Word of God.  These demonic beings will torment you to the point you will wish you could die,]

[Revelation 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. ]

[But God will not let you die.  You WILL endure this torment for five long agonizing months.]

[These flying locust-scorpions filled with demonic spirits are the result of this fifth trumpet.]

6.      The Sixth Trumpet (Rev 9.13-21) – The Second Woe, The Four Angles Loosed [- And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. – This sixth trumpet looses four angels reserved for this occasion, who will lead a massive army and they will destroy one-third, there is that number again, of the men upon the earth.  Yet, this battle is not Armageddon.  This is another battle, perhaps the battle of Gog and Megog.]

[Think about it, with the fourth seal, one-quarter of mankind dies, with this sixth trumpet another one-third of mankind dies.]

[These spirits ride horse-like creatures with lions heads and tails composed of serpents, and breath fire, smoke, and brimstone (vs17).]

[This is just the second woe.]

[Now listen to the response of mankind to the events of this Tribulation Period.]

[Revelation 9:20-21 20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.]

[Oh for the sad, SAD hard-headedness of people.  They will not repent of their sins.  They likely are looking at all of these hideous events as mere natural disasters.  They likely, ignorantly, will not see the super-natural hand of God at work in all of these events.  They do not acknowledge their sin and they will not repent of their wickedness.  At least not yet.]

[The Parenthesis (Rev 10.1-11.13) – The Two Witnesses and their resurrection and ascension – This will be studied at another time.]

7.     The Seventh Trumpet (Rev 11.14-19) – The Third Woe, God’s Wrath [-

The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. 15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, 17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. 18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. 19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. -  With this Judgment God unleashes His wrath upon rebellious mankind.]

[Listen to the Word of God,]

[Revelation 14:13-20 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. 17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.]

[Folks this is describing Armageddon and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ upon this earth.  The third WOE is the full wrath of God released upon mankind and this earth.]

[These are just the second set of seven judgments promised by God to be leveled upon this world during the Great Tribulation Period.]

[Will you presume to know more and better than God?]

[Will you refuse to repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?]

[Will you choose to suffer the wrath of God rather than the blessings of the Rapture, the Bema of Christ, and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?]

[Will you scoff at the Grace, Mercy, and powerful protection of God granted to you day-by-day in this time we call the Church Age?]

Do you want to live through this time when God’s protections are temporarily removed?]
