A. The Marvelous Word Of God (2 Tim 3.16-17; Prov 30.5-6; Deut 4.2; Rev 22.18-19; Psalm 12.6-7; 1 Pet 1.25) 

1.      [The Inspired Word of God  - God Breathed.] 

[2 Timothy 3:16-17 ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. ]

[Every Word of the Bible belongs to God.]

[Proverbs 30:5-6 ⁵ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. ⁶ Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.]

[Deuteronomy 4:2 ² Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. ]

[Revelation 22:18-19 ¹⁸ For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: ¹⁹ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. ]

[This is God’s Word  every word is inspired by God and who are we to say some words don’t belong or some words ought to be other words.]

2.   [The Divinely Preserved Word of God - To every generation] 

[Psalm 12:6-7 ⁶ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. ⁷ Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. ]

3.      [The Enduring Word of God – The Bible is still the Word of God today.] 

[1 Peter 1:25 ²⁵ But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. ]

B.  The Manifesting Word Of God (Deut 29.29; Rom 7.7; John 14.6; Rom 10.9-10,13) 

[Deuteronomy 29:29 ²⁹ The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. ]

[What we know because of the Bible.]

·         [We know of Origins]

o   [We know how the world began, how it was created by God. ]

o   [We know how mankind began, how God formed us with his own hands and breathed the breath of life into us.  We know that mankind is not an animal but we are divinely created human beings.]

o   [We know where sin came from and how it is passed from one person to the next through our fathers blood, and therefore our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is absolutely distinct from every other human being, because of his heritage or blood line.]

·         [We know right from wrong – Apart from the Word of God and the authority of God we would not have known morality.  Right and wrong, if left to mere human opinion, would have always been based on an individual’s circumstances.  But there is right and wrong and it is only discovered through the Word of God.]

[Romans 7:7 ⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. ]

o   [Adultery is wrong and fidelity is right because of the Word of God.]

o   [Fornication and sexual immorality in all of its forms is wrong and virtue is right because of the Word of God.  Hence,  homosexuality is wrong because God says its wrong.  Sexual relations outside of marriage is wrong because God says its wrong.]

o   [Murder is wrong and to protect and value life is right because of the Word of God.]

o   [Stealing is wrong and protecting another’s possessions is right because of the Word of God.]

o   [Covetousness and the debauchery that follows it is wrong and contentment is right because of the Word of God.]

·         [We know of eternity to come and the promises of God – Apart from the Word of God and its revelation mankind can only speculate about our eternal home yet to come and the course of this worlds affairs as we approach the end of this Church age.  But through the Word of God we know,

o   [That the rapture is but a breath away.]

o   [That there are two resurrections to come, but only one for each individual.  The resurrection of the redeemed (Rapture and the Bema of Christ) and the resurrection of the damned (The great white throne judgment)]

o   [That there will be a tribulation period of unspeakable terror, a time unlike anything the world has ever known before.  Not a single born again Christian will live through this time period.]

o   [That the battle of Armageddon will be the battle of all battles and will culminate with the second advent (return) of Christ who will then reign for one thousand years.]

o   [That we would rather be born again, living in complete surrender to our Lord Jesus Christ, than to spend a single moment in that terrible tribulation period.]

o   [That our resurrected bodies will suffer no more pain or illness.]

·         [We know of Salvation – Salvation is divinely revealed within the Word of God.  The plethora of religious systems, the poly theism of past generations and now growing again in our contemporary, pagan society is evidence that mankind cannot find salvation apart from the revelation of God and the Word of God.  But in the inspired Word of God one can know that he knows that he is safe and secure for eternity to come.]

[John 14:6 ⁶ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ]

[Romans 10:9-10 ⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ]

[Romans 10:13 ¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.]

[Revelation 3:20 ²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ]

C. The Maturing Word Of God (2 Tim 3.16-17; 1 Pet 2.2-3)
