The Four Battlefields of the Church
The
Romans 10:9-10
9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved. 10
For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
There are those in our day who teach, what some have come to
call, “east believeism.”
This is
the idea that all one must do to be saved is acknowledge that here was and is a
Jesus and ask Him to save you.
They
go on to proclaim that there are no sacrifices to be made, that there are no
allegiances forged, that nothing in an individuals life need change in order to
be saved.
Our American culture has done a lot to lead people into this
position of self rule and personal authority.
After all, democracy’s cry is “do what you feel is right.”
Which sounds strangely familiar to that which the Bible declared numerous
times concerning a back slidden
Hence, the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ.
There are two very simple elements required to receive God’s free gift of
eternal life.
The easy one, one
must believe that Jesus physically rose from the dead.
The hard one for Americans, one must confess or personally acquire the
Lordship of Jesus Christ.
This must
mean that you must not only know about the Lordship of Jesus, but you must yield
to His lordship over you and all of life’s affairs.
The late Adrian Rogers used to say, “You cannot accept Jesus as Savior,
and fail to accept Him as Lord.”
When Jesus comes into your life at salvation all of Him comes into your life.
The fact that Jesus is Savior and Lord has become one of the
major battlefields in Christianity today.
Many want to wallow in the pleasures of worldly sin and somehow feel like
they are accepted and secure for eternity to come.
Yet Scripture is clear:
Ephesians 5:3-12 3
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not
be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not
convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous
man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the
Let us accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Living a life accountable to a Lord that loves us, never makes a mistake, and will always give us that which is acceptable, perfect and good for us (Rom 12.1-2), will always turn out to be an abounding life. Let us joyfully stand under the banner of the Lordship of Christ.
