The Battle For The Church

The Inerrancy and Infallibility of the Bible

2 Tim 3.15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures , which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus .  16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God , and [is] profitable for doctrine , for reproof , for correction , for instruction in righteousness :  17 That the man of God may be perfect , throughly furnished unto all good works .

One of the battlegrounds for the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ is that of the inerrancy of Scripture.  That we have a Bible that is faithful and trustworthy in every regard is essential not only to a Christians faith but also to their spiritual growth.  If our adversary, the devil, can convince us that we only have a close facimile or a repersentation of the Word of God then he has us right where he wants us, and we will find ourselves retreating from this front line battle.  The battle for the Bible.

There are many in our day who are convinced and teach that the Bible is a book written by men about God.  They note that since this book was written by human beings then it must be considered through reason and philosophy.  Hence, these teachers will find many gray areas in the writtings of the Bible.  They find these questions in the superstitions of the era when the Bible was written.  They find other errors in the cultural customs of Biblical times and the different customs of our day.  In essence, since the Bible was written by men, it must be regarded as a human work filled with human fears and errors.

These infidels toward the Word of God will be heard disregarding many of the clear commands of the Bible.  They will often explain away the principles written in the Bible because they are not culturally relevent in our day.  They will justify presumptuous sinful conduct as a matter of personal preference rather than a violation against an Holy God and His revealed written will.  These teachers and their followers will often be found living in and condoning sins suc as: sexual promescuity, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, infidelity, and much more.  Their tendency will be to soften and even explain away the concept of sin and its consequences.

How can anyone who calls themselves Christian simply disregard and justify these rebellious sins?  They find no final authority in the Word of God, therefore sin becomes a matter of personal preferences rather than a rebellious transgression against an Holy God.

As faithful children of our Heavenly Father we know better.  We understand that through inspiration God authored the Bible through the more than thirty-five penmen who wrote it.  Holy Scripture is God's written Word whereby our Lord reveals Himself to mankind for our sake and His glory.

Furthermore, we know, with all assurance, that our Heavenly Father has promised to keep His Word perfect and pure until the end of time and beyond.  Jesus Himself said that not one cross on a "t" or dot on an "i" would fail form God's written Word (Matt 5.18).  Hence, not only has God authored the Bible, He has also preserved it for us.

This written Word of God is the final authority for those who know and love our living Lord Jesus Christ.  Right and wrong are not a matter of philosophy nor opinion, it is the divine decree of Almighty God.

We study the Word of God because we desire to know and live for the one who gave and gives everything to us and for us.  Sin is reprehesibel for us because sin is reprehensible to our Lord.  How do we know?  We know because the soverign creator of the universe was gracious enough to let us know through His divinely written Word.

Hence, the battle rages still today.  My brothers and sisters in Christ never retreat from the battle for the Bible, for this battle is one of the major fronts of spiritual conflict for the Chruch of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Stand strong and firm in your faith for your faith is based upon and built up by the inerant and infallible Word of God.

Praise God for His glorious written Word.
