Born Again Christians Are For Pure Life
James 4:8

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse
your hands,
ye sinners; and purify
your hearts,
ye double minded.
Holiness, righteousness, integrity, and purity all work
together. You cannot be marked with
one of these characteristics without being touched by the other three.
They are all the works of the Holy Spirit within the Born Again Christian
and in their deepest sense pour out of the core of ones being, or out of ones
heart.
Many a lost worldly soul has looked at a striving and sincere
born again Christian and accused them of self-righteousness or a holier than
thou attitude. To the unredeemed
mind, those who are striving diligently to live lives worthy of God are
hypocrites putting on a front. The
desire to be pure is foreign to darkened hearts, selflessness is unnatural and
therefore these self proclaimed Christians must be putting on a front.
To the natural man to spiritual effect of righteousness and purity are
unnatural, and indeed purity and holiness are unnatural characteristics.
Yet, for the Born Again Christian holiness, righteousness,
integrity and purity are characteristics that have become an engrafted part of
their new spiritual being. The
redeemed heart is not feigning righteousness; it is supernaturally compelled
toward righteousness. Purity of
heart, mind, soul, and spirit (integrity) are not so much a matter of the mind
but rather have become matters of the heart.
The infusion of the Holy Spirit within the believer has transformed the
desires of the Child of God so that they do not “have to” be righteous, instead
they “want to” be righteous. The
supernatural work of Almighty God has given every Born Again Christian a bit of
the divine nature of God, and God is thoroughly, and gloriously holy and pure.
Therefore, what to the lost seems as pious self-righteousness has now been transformed within the believer into an intense desire for purity. Hence, Born Again Christians are whole heartedly for purity in life.
